My Approach to Privacy
Last updated: July 5, 2025
Hello! I'm the solo developer behind BrainBytes. I built this app to be a simple, private space for learning, and this policy explains how I handle information.
My guiding principle is to collect as little data as possible. The app does not require an account, and I have no way of personally identifying you.
1. No Personal Information is Collected
To be perfectly clear: I do not collect, store, or have access to any of your personal information. No names, no emails, no IP addresses, no location data. Nothing that can be tied back to you.
Anonymous Analytics Data
To improve the app, I look at completely anonymous, aggregated usage data. This helps me understand what's working and what isn't. This data includes:
- General Usage: Which features are popular and how much time is spent in the app.
- Technical Info: Device type (e.g., "iPhone 15") and operating system version.
- Crash Reports: To help me find and fix bugs faster.
This anonymous data is processed by a service called PostHog. You can read PostHog's Privacy Policy to learn more about how they handle data.
2. How I Use This Anonymous Data
I use this data solely to:
- Keep the Service running and improve its features.
- Figure out which topics and features you find most interesting.
- Find and fix bugs and security issues.
3. Children's Privacy
BrainBytes is for a general audience, but some topics may be mature (like historical events). The content is not graphic, but it is not specifically designed for children under 13.
As I don't collect personal information, I do not knowingly collect any data from children.
4. Your Data Rights
Since I don't collect any personal information, there is no data linked to you to access, correct, or delete.
5. Changes to This Policy
I may update this policy occasionally. If I do, I'll post the new version on this page.
